Early life

Patrick Bet-David was born on October 18, 1978, in Tehran, Iran, into a Christian family. His father is Assyrian and his mother is Armenian. He was born during the Iranian Revolution, and the Iran-Iraq War began soon after.

To escape the war, the family left Iran. Bet-David, his mother and his sister first went to Germany, where they lived in a refugee camp. After receiving U.S. green cards, the family settled in California in 1990, when he was about 11.

He grew up in the Los Angeles area and speaks several languages, including English, Armenian, Assyrian, Persian and German.

Army service and early jobs

After high school, Bet-David enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served about three years with the 101st Airborne Division and has called joining the Army one of the best decisions of his life.

When he left the military, he briefly attended Santa Monica College and Glendale Community College. He dropped out to go into finance and in 2001 began working as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter in Glendale, California.

He soon moved into insurance sales and spent close to eight years at Transamerica. That job taught him how insurance agencies recruit, train and pay agents, the model he would later use for his own company.

Building PHP Agency

In 2009, at age 30, Bet-David founded People Helping People, later known as PHP Agency. The company is an insurance marketing organization that recruits agents to sell life insurance, mainly to middle-class families.

It started with 66 agents. By 2022 PHP said it had more than 27,000 licensed agents in 49 states and Puerto Rico, more than 170 offices, and had served about half a million Americans. Later company material put the number at up to about 60,000 agents. PHP was headquartered in Addison, Texas, near Dallas.

In 2017, the private equity firm Ambina Partners became PHP’s first institutional investor. PHP later said it had roughly tripled its revenue after that investment, though it never published exact figures.

The 2022 sale to Integrity

In July 2022, Dallas-based Integrity Marketing Group, one of the largest insurance distributors in the U.S., agreed to acquire PHP. Ambina sold its stake as part of the deal. Official financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal has been widely reported at about $250 million plus earn-outs, which are extra payments tied to future performance.

Bet-David became a managing partner at Integrity and stayed on as PHP’s founder and CEO. PHP employees joined Integrity’s employee ownership plan. How much of the sale price went to Bet-David personally has never been made public.

Criticism of the PHP model

PHP’s recruiting-based model drew scrutiny. A 2019 Daily Beast investigation reported that agents paid fees, including a $150 training fee and $14.95 a month. Critics, including YouTuber Coffeezilla, argued that most agents earned little. Bet-David has defended the structure as common in insurance and real estate sales.

Valuetainment and the PBD Podcast

Bet-David launched the Valuetainment YouTube channel on November 9, 2012. It began with videos on entrepreneurship and grew out of training content he made for PHP agents. A 2015 video, “The Life of an Entrepreneur in 90 Seconds,” went viral and helped build the audience.

The channel grew into Valuetainment Media, which produces shows, runs events and offers consulting. The main Valuetainment channel has about 7 million subscribers and billions of total views.

In 2020 he launched the PBD Podcast, a long-form show that covers business, politics, culture and current events. Its YouTube channel has close to 3 million subscribers, and clips spread widely across other platforms. By 2026 the show had passed 875 episodes.

Valuetainment’s revenue comes from YouTube ads, sponsorships, events and consulting. The company is private and has not reported its revenue.

Political prominence, 2024 to 2026

The PBD Podcast became a major stop for political and business guests in the 2024 election cycle and after. Guests have included Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, boxer Mike Tyson and many business leaders.

In August 2025, during an interview on the show, Netanyahu acknowledged the Armenian, Assyrian and Greek genocides in response to Bet-David’s question, a moment that drew wide coverage. Bet-David also appears often as a guest on other shows, such as Glenn Beck’s radio program in 2026.

The show’s open-format interviews have also drawn criticism. Media watchdogs have argued that some guests made false claims without pushback, while Bet-David says he wants to let viewers hear different views and decide for themselves.

Books

Bet-David has written four books. Two were co-written with Greg Dinkin:

  • Doing the Impossible (2011): his first book, on 25 laws for success
  • Your Next Five Moves (2020): a business strategy book that became a Wall Street Journal bestseller
  • Choose Your Enemies Wisely (2023): a guide to business planning
  • The Academy (2024)

Book sales are a small part of his income, but they help promote his media brand and events.

The Vault conference

The Vault is Valuetainment’s yearly conference for entrepreneurs and business owners. Past events have featured speakers such as Dwayne Johnson, Nick Saban, Tony Robbins and Martha Stewart.

The 2025 event took place on September 8 to 11, 2025, at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, Florida. For 2026, it moved to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas (August 31 to September 3), and Valuetainment promoted it as a four-day event for 12,000+ founders and CEOs. Ticket and sponsorship revenue have not been disclosed.

The Goliath Ventures sponsorship

The title sponsor of The Vault 2025 was Goliath Ventures, a Florida crypto investment firm. Goliath collapsed in early 2026. Its founder, Christopher Delgado, was arrested in February 2026, the company filed for bankruptcy in March, and Delgado pleaded guilty in June 2026 to fraud and money laundering charges. In his plea he admitted defrauding at least 1,000 investors of at least $250 million.

A local news review of Goliath’s records listed a $1 million payment to an entity called “BET-David Consulting.” Critics have called on Bet-David to return sponsorship money to victims. He has not been charged with any wrongdoing in the case.

Investments

In 2023, after what he described as a 13-month vetting process, Bet-David became a limited partner of the New York Yankees. He joined a group of minority owners that includes Lester Crown and Jerry Speyer. His stake is reportedly less than 1% of the team, and its price was not disclosed. He has said he hopes to one day become a majority owner of a pro sports team.

He also invests in real estate and private businesses, often through Valuetainment and related companies. Few of these deals have been made public.

Real estate

Bet-David and his wife moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 2021. Two large property deals there have been publicly reported:

Property Year Reported price
Waterfront mansion, Bay Colony, Fort Lauderdale 2021 $20.4 million
Office building and private airplane hangar near Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport 2024 $25 million

The Bay Colony home is a six-bedroom, 10,436-square-foot house on a 1.1-acre lot with about 800 feet of waterfront. It was built in 2015. The $20.4 million price was a record for the gated Bay Colony community at the time.

In 2024, an entity tied to Bet-David paid $25 million in a bankruptcy sale for a 10.7-acre site in Fort Lauderdale. It includes a 20,150-square-foot office building and an 18,048-square-foot private airplane hangar with a two-bedroom apartment.

Personal life

Bet-David is married to Jennifer Bet-David. They met while working at a financial services company. The couple has four children: sons Patrick and Dylan, and daughters Senna and Brooklyn.

The family lives in the Fort Lauderdale area. Bet-David is a practicing Christian and often talks about faith, family and his immigrant background on his shows.

Philanthropy

Bet-David often talks about giving back on his shows. However, there is little public, verified record of large charitable gifts, and no major foundation in his name has published detailed giving figures.

He has used his platform to raise awareness of causes tied to his heritage, including recognition of the Armenian and Assyrian genocides.
