One of these was in 2019, when Jared Isaacman, a billionaire, arranged for the first privately-chartered spacecraft trip to orbit Earth. 

He is planning to join the first crewed Starship flight through his program, Polaris Dawn. 

Another billionaire, Yusaku Maezawa from Japan, paid for a trip to the International Space Station in 2021 and has reserved a Starship flight called “Dear Moon.”

This mission aims to transport him, an assistant, and 10 artists and influencers on a privately-funded voyage around the Moon.

A third civilian Starship flight carrying 12 passengers, including space station veteran Dennis Tito and his wife, has been booked as well. 

Tito, who paid an estimated $20 million for a trip to the International Space Station in 2001, expressed enthusiasm about returning to space and sharing the experience with his spouse. 

The exact cost of a Starship flight has not been disclosed by SpaceX, but it is expected to be considerably less expensive than traditional launches due to the spacecraft’s reusable design. 

This price reduction could pave the way for more civilian missions and commercial opportunities in the future, making space exploration more accessible to a wider audience.
